Concerns have been raised about the impartiality
of the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in licensing anti-HIV
drugs and we reproduce data questioning
the suitability of the FDA in driving anti-HIV medication
to market.
We also examine the vexed question of precisely
which diseases correlate with AIDS diagnoses by looking
at data showing these diseases exist in the non-HIV diagnosed
population. We reproduce the data
in order to initiate further dialogue and debate.
The American heterosexual AIDS epidemic has
not materialised as expected and this
article suggests some of the reasons why. Another
article (from POZ Magazine), written by the founder
of the World's first AIDS research journal (JAIDS), Dr.
Joseph Sonnabend, suggests that female to male transmission
of HIV in the USA has not significantly impacted on the
AIDS epidemic, unlike the situation in Africa.
